We offer our patients multiple options for dentures, including implant-retained dentures and fixed implant dentures.

Traditional dentures & partials

There are two types of options available to patients, depending on the extent of their tooth loss: complete dentures or partial dentures. Patients receive complete dentures in cases of full-mouth tooth loss, while patients who still have some or most of their teeth benefit from partial dentures. Dr. Bahrami will perform an exam and discuss your treatment needs to determine the kind is right for your needs. Regardless of the denture that you need, dentures are removable prosthetic devices used to restore the look and function of a complete smile.

Implant-retained dentures

Removable dentures with denture stabilization implants use a permanently implanted metal framework that is designed to keep the wearer’s removable dentures secure and in place even while talking or eating. This framework can be inserted into the gums in just one minimally-invasive surgery. While this framework ensures the patient’s dentures are kept in place when needed, they can also be removed by the patient for easy cleaning and then quickly reinserted for general use. It is recommended that users replace their set of removable dentures every three to eight years.

Fixed implant dentures

Fixed dentures are permanently held in place in the user’s mouth by using four to six dental implants. Unlike removable dentures, fixed dentures can’t be taken out and instead remain inside the mouth at all times. Since the dental implants function much like natural tooth roots, most users state that fixed dentures feel exactly like natural teeth. Many people with missing teeth opt for fixed dentures because of their unparalleled strength and stability when talking and eating.

Frequently asked questions

Do dentures hurt?

It’s normal for your dentures to feel uncomfortable or bulky when you first start wearing them. They can cause mild gum irritation when eating. Over time, your mouth will adjust and your dentures will begin to feel natural.

What are the cons of not getting an implant?

Missing teeth make it difficult to properly eat your food, leading to digestive problems and nutritional deficiencies. After you lose a tooth, your jaw will also begin to shrink, which will cause your facial muscles to sag.

How long does it take to get dentures?

The process of receiving dentures typically takes 3-4 appointments over several months, from the initial consultation to receiving your final dentures. It may take longer if you need to have any remaining teeth removed prior to receiving your dentures, as your mouth will need to heal.

How many appointments will it take to get implants?

You will visit our office 3-4 times during your dental implant treatment experience. The full process includes your initial consultation, treatment planning, surgery, and follow-ups to check on your progress.

Do implants hurt?

Getting an implant involves a minor surgical procedure, during which your dentist will insert the implants into your jawbone. Be sure to follow the post-operative care instructions we provide you with to ensure a comfortable recovery.
